Deciding on the right cleaner

Once you have done your homework and determined the area and type of carpets to be cleaned it is time to start finding the perfect supplier for your budget and needs. • You get what you pay for. The cheapest price is not always the best deal.
  • Ask for references from past clients, review their ratings and look through their website and social pages.
  • Enquire about their insurance policy, what they cover, etc
  • Look out for hidden costs. Have the honest conversation before any bookings are made.

Preparing for the cleaners:

Before the cleaners arrive there are a few things you need to prepare:

Declutter: Remove any excess clutter and items from the room as this will speed up the whole process. It is always good practice to lock up any valuables when inviting any contractor into your home. Although most contractors are honest and trustworthy there is really no reason to tempt fate. Rather remove the temptation by simply locking away any valuables. Some cleaners don’t require you to vacuum first, but it is always a good idea to give the carpet a quick vacuum to get rid of the loose dirt and dust so the cleaners can focus on the deep clean.

Remove light furniture: Avoid damaging any light furniture such as coffee tables, lamps and bookshelves by removing them before the cleaners arrive. The less things the cleaners have to move the less chance of there being any damage and the quicker they can get to work cleaning your carpets.

Pets: Make sure you keep your pets in a secure area away from the room where the carpets are being cleaned. Not only can the noise from the machine scare your fury friends, but they also may bring unwanted dirt into the freshly cleaned area. It is best to wait until the carpets are completely dry before letting the pets back in the area.

Protect your walls: Masking tape works wonders. Consider protecting your walls and cornices from the hoses used by professional cleaners by simply applying masking tape to the exposed areas. Corners and staircases are the highest risk spots. Masking tape leaves no marks and is incredibly easy to apply and remove.

Once the cleaning is complete:

Drying Times: Drying times vary depending on a number of variables (temperature, humidity, carpet type, etc) but as a rule of thumb try keep traffic to a minimum for at least 4 hours after the cleaners have finished.

Health and Safety: For health and safety reasons it is best to keep pets and children out of the area until the carpets are completely dry. Be careful when walking from a wet carpet to tiled or concrete surfaces as they may be slippery when wet.

Help Others: By leaving an honest review for your chosen cleaning company on Versofy you not only give the carpet cleaners valuable feedback but also help others make an informed hiring decision.

We hope the above helps you when the time comes to hire a professional carpet cleaning service. If you feel that we have left anything out, please feel free to get in touch. We will happily add any info that helps our clients find the perfect supplier.
